Getting started

From zero to your first company search in three steps.

Create an account, copy an API key and connect the ProsperaData MCP server to your editor. The free plan needs no card and includes 1,000 companies every month.

MCP endpoint

https://mcp.prosperadata.com/mcp
  1. Create an account Sign in to the developer console. No card required.
  2. Get an API key Keys start with ctc_ and are shown once.
  3. Connect MCP Paste the configuration into Cursor or Claude Code and search.

Step 1

Create your free account

Everything below lives in the developer console. The free plan is immediate and never asks for a card.

  1. Open the developer console Go to app.prosperadata.com and sign in with your email address.
  2. Confirm your workspace Your workspace is created on the first sign-in and holds the keys, the credits and the audit log.
  3. Stay on the free plan Free includes 1,000 companies per month and 30 requests per minute. Paid plans are not purchasable at launch.

Step 2

Get your API key

Keys start with ctc_. Replace ctc_… in the configuration below with your full key.

  1. Open API keys In the developer console choose “Create key” and give it a name you recognise, such as cursor or claude-code.
  2. Copy the key once The full key is displayed only at creation time. Store it in your password manager right away.
  3. Keep it secret Never commit the key to a repository, never paste it in a shared chat. If it leaks, revoke it in the console and create a new one.
  4. One key per tool Separate keys per editor make revoking one integration without touching the others trivial.

Step 3

Connect the MCP server

ProsperaData speaks the Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP. Paste one of the blocks below into your editor and restart it.

Cursor

Create or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the server below, then restart Cursor so it reloads the file.

~/.cursor/mcp.json JSON
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "prosperadata": {
      "url": "https://mcp.prosperadata.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ctc_…"
      }
    }
  }
}

The url must be exactly https://mcp.prosperadata.com/mcp and the Authorization header must carry your key with the Bearer prefix. The file must be valid JSON: no comments and no trailing commas. Full details in the Cursor guide.

Claude Code

Run this once in the terminal to register ProsperaData as an HTTP MCP server named prosperadata.

Terminal Shell
claude mcp add --transport http prosperadata https://mcp.prosperadata.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ctc_…"

Confirm the registration with claude mcp list: prosperadata must appear with the http transport and the https://mcp.prosperadata.com/mcp endpoint. Full details in the Claude Code guide.

Troubleshooting

Onboarding: the usual snags

The sign-up email never arrives

Check spam and promotions, then confirm the address on the sign-in page of the developer console. If the account exists, request a new sign-in link from the same page instead of creating a second account.

The editor does not list prosperadata

Restart the editor after saving the configuration, and check that the file lives exactly at ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor) or that the claude mcp add command ran in the same scope where you start the session (Claude Code). Then run claude mcp list for Claude Code.

The editor answers 401 Unauthorized

The Authorization header must be Bearer followed by a space and your full key. Keys start with ctc_. Copy the key again from the developer console; if it was exposed, revoke it and create a new one.

The editor answers 429 Too Many Requests

The monthly company-credit quota for the account was reached. Wait for the next monthly period or upgrade in the developer console. A single call never returns more than 100 companies.

The agent returns no companies

Every search requires a country and concrete offer terms (what the company sells), and returns at most 100 companies per call. Broaden the country or the offer terms and try again.

Why no personal emails or phone numbers?

ProsperaData is company-level data by design: your agent gets company identity, offerings and generic business contact channels where eligible — never personal-contact profiles.
